Why Volunteer With SCS

Of the 4.5 million low-income, first-generation students currently enrolled in college, only 11% will earn a bachelor’s degree within 6 years. This low graduation rate reflects the myriad of complex academic, social, and cultural challenges these students experience from being the first in their family to attend college.

To ensure that the journey to higher education does not end where it begins, South Central Scholars provides students with the support system and networks they often lack. Through college counseling, academic preparation, financial scholarships, mentorship, and internship and job assistance, nearly 90% of our students earn a bachelor’s degree within 6 years. We need you to help keep the momentum going.
