How to Win the Hongkong Prize

The hongkong prize is one of the most prestigious writing competitions in Asia, and can be an excellent way to establish your writing career. This is the eighth year the Hong Kong Museum of History has organised the inter-school competition, which is aimed at enhancing students’ knowledge about the city’s unique historical development by encouraging them to learn actively outside class through thorough investigation and research into the relationship between historic developments and changes in society. Participants are required to submit a written report, and the winning teams will be selected based on their degree of participation and the quality of the written reports.

The winner of the hongkong prize is announced each year during an event held in Hong Kong to honour the winner. The winner receives a cash award of HK$100,000 and a trophy. The judging criteria are relevance, systematic use of collected materials, objective analysis and citation of bibliography and footnotes. The winners are also required to present their projects at a face-to-face interview, in which the judges will judge their presentation skills and their ability to analyse historical development issues in an objective and impartial manner.

Each organiser is responsible for drawing up and administering the rules of their respective award, publicising the competition, inviting entries and conducting a preliminary evaluation. The overall coordination of the awards is supervised by a coordinating committee with members drawn from the organising committees of the five award categories.

The BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize is sponsored by BOCHK and aims to encourage scientific researchers and innovative enterprises in Hong Kong to persist in their creative exploration, make breakthrough discoveries and apply the results of their R&D to serve the society. It’s also an inspiration for young scientists to pursue scientific excellence in Hong Kong, establish themselves in the field of Hong Kong and contribute to the development of our country and the world. The Board of Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation is the highest decision-making body, consisting of a Review Committee, a Compliance Oversight Team and a Secretariat. The Board is responsible for reviewing and interpreting the articles of the Charter; suggesting important scientific research fields for THE PRIZE; appointing members to the Review Committee and Compliance Oversight Team; and setting requirements for nominating experts. The Board also verifies and approves the final review results. The Board has the right to terminate an award, withdraw a prize money, certificate and trophy if a person or organisation violates the provisions of the Charter. It may also take other appropriate measures according to the case. The decision of the Board is final.
