The Winners of the Hong Kong Prize

The Hong Kong Prize is awarded to scientists and research teams who have demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in the field of science and technology. The Prize aims to reward scientific and technological achievements in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, and to promote research and innovation in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Life and Health, New Materials and New Energy, Advanced Manufacturing, FinTech and Big Data Analytics. The Prize is a non-governmental merit-based award. The Prize consists of a cash award, an engraved trophy and a certificate.

The winners of the hk prize are selected by expert panels of judges. The panel members are all Fellows of the Society or senior scientists working in Hong Kong or the Greater Bay Area, and most have international reputations. The jury’s decision is final and binding. The winner of the Grand Award will be awarded a cash prize of HK$200,000 plus a gold medal, while the winners of the Awards and Certificates of Merit will receive a certificate.

Xi Tianqi, a reporter with only 1 1/2 years of experience at China Daily Hong Kong, took second runner-up in the Best Young Reporter category. Xi said the win is encouragement for young journalists and will reinforce their belief that good journalism can make a difference to people’s lives. In the Best News Page Design (series) category, the HKAI team’s articles Securing a New Lease of Life and Life at a Crossroads won first and second runner-up respectively.

This year, a record number of entries were received for the hk prize, with more than 200 shortlisted artworks from secondary school students across the city. The judging process will see all the shortlisted artworks exhibited at venues in the city before the winner is announced on 15 September. The winning art piece will receive HK$8,000 and the school of the judge’s prize winner will get a further HK$20,000.

His illustrious career has seen him also win accolades as one of the Four Heavenly Kings of Cantopop and become a father.
